This beautiful pink/purple coral colony is part of the Gorgonia family and is considered a NPS or Non-photosynthetic soft coral. The Regal Sea Fan is made up of a fibrous flesh speckled with somewhat long white extending polyps that reach outwards to grab small meaty particulates like phytoplankton and other small creatures. Members of the Gorgonia family do best in high flow areas of the tank and DO NOT require any light whatsoever. The sea fan would do best in a well established tank or a tank that gets Phyto dosed regularly.
