This Platygyra is a mix of vivid blues, purples, and pinks. This coral will change color pigment depending on lighting and water parameters. Platys are known as brain corals and will grow into large dome shaped structures resembling the folds of a brain.
Platys are an easier coral to keep which makes them good for the beginner reef aquarist. Their care needs are pretty broad in comparison to other stoney corals, but they can pack a wicked sweeper sting that can decimate other coral colonies. It is recommended to keep Platygyra away from other corals by at least several inches to avoid "warfare."
