The Marble/Hortulanus Wrasse, also known as the Checkerboard Wrasse, is white with stripes, dots, and patches of black. With maturity, it becomes silver with a distinctive black checkerboard pattern on the body. The dorsal fin and tail are yellow, and the face is light green with orange to pink striped markings. The Wrasse can reach up to 11 inches and will need an aquarium of at least 125 gallon or larger aquarium with a sealed lid and a 2-3 inch sandy bottom to hide in if frightened. It may be housed with other peaceful wrasses, including it's own species. In the aquarium the Marbled Wrasse it will eat fireworms and pyramidellid snails, protecting corals and clams. In addition, it may eat feather dusters, wild shrimp, tubeworms, and flatworms. It prefers frozen meaty foods. The Wrasse may also eat parasites off of tank mates, but may be shy when first introduced to your aquarium. Their diet consists of mysis, brine, and other meaty food.
