This hermit crab is a scavenger and will eat hair algae, film algae, and some cyanobacteria in your aquarium. They can grow up to 1.5 inches. They are not considered reef safe as they will attack snails to take over their shells. To avoid that issue you can place empty shells around the aquarium to help deter them.
